Open Color Magazine was an annual arts and culture publication with a mission to showcase innovative and thought-provoking content while celebrating diverse voices in the creative community. My role as Art Director and Lead Designer was to elevate the magazine’s visual identity, ensuring that each issue resonated with readers and reflected the magazine's dedication to artistic excellence.

To start, we conducted extensive research into contemporary art and design trends, carefully analyzing the work of emerging and established artists. This research, combined with a deep understanding of Open Color's vision, informed our approach to layout, typography, and imagery, allowing us to create a publication that felt both cutting-edge and timeless.

Building on the magazine's commitment to diversity and creativity, I led the redesign of the entire brand identity, introducing bold new layouts and innovative visual elements. The goal was to not only attract readers but also to offer an immersive visual experience that complemented the rich content within each issue. We utilized a clean and modern aesthetic, balancing the editorial content with striking visuals that highlighted the work of featured artists.

Throughout my time with Open Color, I collaborated closely with writers, photographers, and illustrators, ensuring that each issue was cohesive and aligned with the magazine's artistic mission. The results were issues that garnered over 50,000 views per release, increased reader engagement, and strengthened the magazine's presence in the arts community.
